I’m thinking about changing the name of the Recovery Life Lab. Haven’t landed on anything quite yet but wanted to share that I’m leaning towards soul work versus recovery specific. That’s really always been my niche but I was leading with recovery. We are truly all recovering from something so it’s worked. My calling is getting more specific now…[Read more]

Had a little bit of a harder time having my mom in town this go around. She seems to be getting more and more ballsy with what she says. She’s very fearful so approaches all of her comments and judgments from a fear space. I can see it happening and don’t take it on but it’s a lot to manage at the same time. As an adult I can manage it. I have so…[Read more]

Glad you are able to name, notice and do what is life affirming for you. It’s beautiful to witness you giving yourself compassion and understanding. Sending a big hug.

Thank you so much!

Thank you for sharing, Bev. I can relate in many ways. Every time I’m with my mom it’s another opportunity for me to detach and see us as separate people. I spent many, many years taking on her problems as if they were my own and trying to fix her. Loving her is so much better than fixing her. Sometimes I find myself very sad and in tears…[Read more]

I admire how you are able to have compassion for your younger self and boundaries for yourself now. It’s crazy what we take on as children because we think we can’t (and can’t in some ways) survive without trying to keep our parents well. I’ve just started to face all the ways I’ve put my mother’s needs above my own…Thanks for always sharing…[Read more]

My thoughts about judgements/misunderstandings. One misunderstanding has to do with isolation/I have figure it out on my own. That is a different lens than being open, vulnerable and receptive of connection. It feels good to name the tension of opposites. My biggest aha involves the understanding or acceptance of being a co-creator. I have a part…[Read more]

What are some judgments you are noticing this week? Where do judgments show up in your body? What have you currently been doing with your judgments?
-
Well, today in headache form – I am naming and noticing the patterns and journaling. Looking towards self forgiveness. Giving myself credit for showing up and community.
-
Self-forgiveness is a wonderful tool! We have to really want to give ourselves the forgiveness.
-
-
I have no idea where judgments are in my body. I do know I’ve had ongoing issues with my rotated cuff and what feels like a pinched nerve in my shoulder blade, upper back… Is this judgment showing up in my body? How would I know? How do people identify pain/feeling in the body as judgment?
-
Such a great insight Wes. Yes, judgment and past traumas show up in the body. It’s why energy work and body work have been so important to me. You could actually dialogue with these parts and see what comes forward. What are those parts trying to communicate to you?
-
What side of the body is this showing up? Left side is the mother/feminine and right is the father/masculine.
-
Also, both are on the left/feminine side. Mean anything?
-
-
Not sure exactly, but they’re communicating enough to me that I made the unusual step of seeing the doctor about them today and I already have a physio appointment for friday 😊. Kinda proud of this because I avoid making appointments and doctors and now I’ve done it twice in a matter of days.

I’m judging my judgi-ness this week!

List of judgments
I judge my:
humanness (and humanness in general) as painful, disgusting, wrong, shameful, confusing, imprisoning, a cosmic mistake;
soul as my true self but also as lost amongst all the noise;
truth as wrong;
desires as greedy and shameful and wrong and expendable;
mental health as an insurmountable punishment and an anchor t…[Read more]-
I admire your transparency and willingness to look at all of your judgments and share them Wes.

Thanks Jane.

Well said.Without judgment;) can you look at this list and bring some compassion for the human that sees the world this way? What do you think when you read the list back to yourself? How will life ride out if you continue with these judgments? Get curious here. Separate enough to know that you aren’t this story. You feel this experience since…[Read more]

Thanks. I definitely have tons of compassion for that human. When I read it back, it sounds dark. Maybe it is but that would just be another judgment. I also see the duality in it. It reflects my human experience, as you point out, and in that way its true. But I also feel, and felt when I wrote it, that it wasn’t my truth. I…[Read more]

I so appreciate your deep commitment to your process. It’s incredible, that’s the truth of who you are. You can’t help but realize it. “This is really just a deep longing for peace but my resistance to my ego as the source of all my problems ensures that my ego fights for its survival and keeps peace distant from me”…Such a profound and…[Read more]

And I have been considering that, especially these past few days. Its been a process of choosing the actions that support peace. Thanks for the insights Bev

Wes, thank you so much for being real and honest. No judgment on any of it from me. It’s not been easy for me to admit some of my own deepest, darkest feelings, but it has been very rewarding and transformational when I do. Takes a lot courage and I honor your words.
-
Thanks Karen. Appreciate the support.
-
-
I appreciate being able to witness your process as you connect with your truth. Such a big deal to engage with what is so transformation can evolve.

Thanks Tami. Great to be witnessed.

What makes you engage your soul work?
-
Being around others who are inspired and doing their soul work.
-
Honestly, when I am triggered and feeling anger build up within me, I run to my soul work.
-
Hats off, that’s usually when people run from it! That’s speaks volumes on your growth and commitment. Awesome!
-
-
I think it’s a feeling to be alive and congruent that calls me toward the work. A big aha moment for me was learning that understanding is love. I did a lot of journaling and that was the theme that kept coming up. I didn’t want to process skip, I wanted to engage with what was presenting itself to be known and integrated. I know that Is why I…[Read more]

There was something you said, Bev, near the end of the meeting. It was something about how our judgments feed our unfinished business. And just before you said that, I’d witnessed the insight that my ego can’t tolerate my connection to my true self and so its making my authentic connections with other people tens, or hundreds, of times more…[Read more]

So accepting your humanness and excepting that your human. And accepting that some times you are going to judge yourself. And accepting that sometimes you might feel vulnerable. And something you might come from ego. That’s all part of it. It doesn’t matter or mean anything. Your process is learning to love all of it: ego and spiritual being. You…[Read more]

So I applied for my “dream job” (or at least what I thought was my dream job) a couple of months ago, had a phone interview that went really well last month, and just got an email yesterday that they are putting their search for a new consultant on hold. There’s a part of me that’s disappointed and that feels like now I am stuck in my current…[Read more]

This is so good. As the unfolding happens we start to move beyond what we thought we wanted for ourselves. I’m going through this too. It’s interesting when you decide to change, what spiritual curriculum, comes up. I over stepped my boundaries last Sunday with my oldest Son. He was trying to make a simple decision and I told him 3 times what an option was because it was a better deal. He told me that he could make his own decisions. This happened on Sunday. On Tuesday, I…[Read more]

If you take a moment to be still, what’s a message coming in for you?
-
How good it feels to be awake and alive. I spent 45 minutes yesterday with my grandson, Teddy. He is 5 months old and we sat under their huge oak tree, simply being with nature. I followed his lead as he was just cooing and talking back to the trees ( or Higher Power) or both. I felt like I was bathing in a soft presence that washed away my…[Read more]

That I’m exactly where I need to be. That things change and that’s a good thing. That there is reason to be hopeful and that I can’t always see how things can change but that I’m not stuck.

I feel a big exhale when I witness this. Such wisdom.
-
-
Right now I’m feeling a lot of frustration, anger, and tightness in my chest. A lot of boundary violations in my life the last few days. I have done a fairly good job of being assertive and saying what I mean but not being mean, but I’m feeling the tension because I feel as if I’m slowly being manipulated again into doing things I don’t want to do.
-
What’s the boundary you need to hold, Karen? How come that boundary is important to you? Acknowledging you for noticing where this boundary violation is showing up in your body.
-
Bev, I think it’s an internal boundary that I need to set. Things outside of me are affecting things inside of me. That boundary is important to me because when I don’t set it, whatever is happening is affecting me and my ability to live my life.

We are going through a major clearing right now. I can’t even describe all the amazing synchronicity, symbols and signs we are getting. I would probably sound crazy. Love that you are honoring your feelings about it and giving yourself time to decide.
I think it’s great. Recovery happens to be the portal that gets many of us to be open and able to do soul work, but that is definitely not the only precursor to healing. Glad to be on this journey with you all.
Honoring your calling and grateful to be a part of the process. Love it no matter what its called but always excited about the direction you’re being called in, especially as it relates to soul work or soul healing or soul expression or soul alignment, anything to do with the truth of who we are.
Recovery from substances was the initial step I took that lead to my soul work so it will always be apart of what I talk about. It’s cool how purpose becomes more and more defined the longer you walk a purposeful path. Thanks for the input and support! We are all in this together and I honor everyone in this group. We’ve been small but mighty and…[Read more]
