Today’s prompt: What is the emotion you notice most in those around you?
I am always gauging other people’s emotions. I notice disappointment, anger, fear, insecurity. But I also notice joy.
I love that you can see both. It’s an interesting experience to pick up on other people’s emotions. It’s also a good time to practice neutrality. I remind myself that it’s not my job to fix other people. It is my duty to be compassionate towards their spiritual curriculum. If I’m noticing a particular emotion consistently in others, I use it as a mirror to check myself on that emotion. May I be missing something around this emotion. It’s just a check-in. If I get a “no” within, I let it go. However, if my consciousness starts to grind on some personal experiences, I practice self-forgiveness and compassion for Self. It’s amazing how every situation offers opportunity for healing if we so use it.
Yes, my reaction was always to fix other people. I couldn’t stand to see other people’s pain (probably because I wouldn’t let myself sit with my own pain either) and would immediately want to fix it. I think now that I am learning to be with myself, I am able to pause and be with other people and just be compassionate and more neutral. That’s such a great point to check-in though too when a particular emotion is triggering a lot. And then practice self-forgiveness like you said.
