I didn’t carve out a large chunk of time for myself over the weekend, but I did take a couple short moments to reflect. It helps me to slow down and stay grounded, even if it’s a short amount of time. Overall, I’m in a good place and really appreciating the woman that I can be when I don’t drink πŸ™‚

    • Describe the woman you are capable of being when you don’t drink Stephanie. I’d like to know more about her.

      • I am definitely calmer and more kind. And a lot less irritable. I am more grounded and have a more positive, hopeful outlook. I really am an a-hole when I am drinking. I’m a LOT more pleasant when I don’t.

    • I get exactly what you’re saying Stephanie. I feel the same way about even taking a few moments to slow down and reflect and about seeing & appreciating who you can be without drinking.

    • Loved the video and thank you for the example living vision. I appreciate very much that the videos aren’t too long. I am really enjoying this platform so far, Bev!!!

      • That makes my heart sing. I find nothing more inspirational than a person who wants to work on being more conscious, loving and peaceful in this world. I applaud each of you and am so excited for our journey into improving our lives this year together. Thanks for letting me know that you enjoy shorter videos!

  • There’s more energy in me today to show up differently and more empowered. I connected with an online friend this morning via Skype to just chat about what’s present for us. Both of us are into self development and growth and exploring our relationships to what it means to be a man in today’s society that values certain traits and…[Read more]

  • Today’s prompt: Set an intention for the week and share with us.

    • I will continue to revise my performance, which is coming along nicely, with the intention of being ready to roll it out in two weeks! That’s a little scary to me, but I think I need it to be that way to make me finish it. I mean, I know I’ll revise it more as I present it, but I need to take the leap. It’s time.

    • My intention is to show up powerfully and in alignment with the best version of myself and continue this ride or shift that I feel I’m in the midst of.

    • My intention is to add gratitude to my daily spiritual practice.

  • Happy Monday to each and everyone of you. I’m sending you so much love and grace. I have so enjoyed reading your self-discovery. Many of you are starting to see that when you are conscious about your own inner process than you can be more empowered to direct your outer experience. It’s a fantastic thing.

    • Happy Monday Bev and everyone here! Love what you’ve created here and what I’m noticing within myself after only the first week of having this space to just express freely. It’s spilling over into my daily life in a positive and powerful way and I’m noticing choices available to me that I wasn’t seeing before. Much love

      • There’s something to be said for a community and frequency that supports us in our best self. It helps us lift to that higher level. I KNOW how powerful it can be and I’ve want to create it for so long. Also, another powerful thing is that people have paid to be in here. They’ve made an investment into themselves and therefore have a higher degree…[Read more]

  • Checking in today feeling strong. Had multiple (definitely more than usual) great, easy social interactions with other adults this entire weekend without needing to judge myself or the other person. I even made a difference for two of the people I spoke with by being able to share my experience or just by holding space, one whose son is…[Read more]

  • Bought the ebook version of β€œremembering the light within: a course in soul centered living” by Ron and Mary Hulnick for $2.99 on Amazon and Barnes and Noble

  • I want to check in daily to this “what’s new” prompt. I think doing so will challenge me to acknowledge what is present for me and what has changed. It tends to be a question that I and a lot of people sort of shrug off as a rhetorical greeting and, yet, I’m never the exact same person I was yesterday so, what’s changed. At first glance, not a…[Read more]

    • Great process Wes! This is ownership:) You can either let your thoughts support inferiority or you can work on chooses something different and living from it. Nice work!

  • This weekend, focus on taking action on your spiritual practice. Make time for yourself at least once this weekend and share with us what you did.

    • I’m going to share this now with the hopes that I have more to add later. Specifically, I want to make time to start EFT today or tomorrow. So far this weekend, I’ve meditated three times. By far the best of those times was this morning. This is because I usually meditate in the evening within an hour of bedtime and I find my mind to be overly…[Read more]

    • I’ve been creating space in the mornings to meditate & more intentionally connect. Bev, I like what you said during the webinar about approaching things from a place of curiosity so I’m approaching this in that way. I have some spiritual books that I’ve been meaning to read or I read but when I wasn’t really in a place to take them in. So I’ve…[Read more]

      • I LOVE curiosity, glad that spoke to you. It’s a wonderful tool. Curiosity keeps us open and exploring. Judgment closes us up and stops the process because judgment doesn’t feel good. Keep being curious and just notice. You are building your awareness muscle.

  • Glad to be here! Hello Recovery Life Lab!!!

  • P.S. You all are rocking my world. This is the energy I want to be in. People being conscious and aware and working on themselves. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about continuing to look, learn and grow.

  • Check and observe your emotions today. How are you feeling?

    • Feeling not too high and not too low, just sort of even keel. This feeling can be deceiving for me because it leaves me wondering why I can’t feel more one way or another. It’s as though deeper feelings are hidden away somewhere inaccessible to me, for my own self prefervation. Hope that makes sense.

      • I feel calm and confident. And a bit curious.

        • Cool! I’ve had a REALLY energetic week. I’ve been eating WAY better which is kind of funny because I was already eating really well. My husband and I are committed to 3 months of plant-based eating. I feel like I stepped into another level of ownership around my food and nourishment and it’s been a whole other level of energy over here.

      • What if you could feel them?

        • I wish I could.

          • The misunderstanding is that if we feel them we won’t be able to handle it. I know you to be WAY more powerful than that. I had the same experience for awhile where I couldn’t feel. I just kept intending to feel so that I could resolve the emotions and thoughts and create peace in my life. I KNEW that I would be supported by the Universe if I did…[Read more]

            • I like that. There’s something about feeling my feelings I associate with strengthening my ego or validating it. Not sure if that’s where the block lies since I’m trying not to feed the ego. It just seems counterintuitive to embracing authenticity.

            • Bev I love what you said about intending to feel. That feels so empowering. You’re right about the misunderstanding that if we feel we won’t be able to handle it. That’s exactly what I was experiencing. And what you & Wes were talking about as far as awareness being the first step to being able to choose differently. This is all so helpful.

    • Yesterday was a crazy day. Lots of stress and anxiety because of a big project/presentation at work in the afternoon and then after it was over I was kind of riding high on adrenaline because it went so well. What I noticed is that more thoughts of drinking crossed my mind than usual I think because my feelings in general were so intense all…[Read more]

      • Great noticing Jane. I love knowing that I can just notice and I don’t have to follow through on a behavior because of a feeling or thought. We are going to be on point some days and feel off point others…that’s okay. We want to shoot for less “crazy” days and more “balanced” days. Just the intention to be more aware, in ownership and peaceful…[Read more]

      • Congrats on noticing that the intention behind your drinking was to numb out and that this belief no longer serves you as you seek to feel your feelings to see what you can learn about balance and peace. Powerful awareness Jane

I’m elated to share that I was offered a new position last evening which I accepted! Even though it’s within my same department, due to the re-org we’ve lost people and will be gaining new team members… so I’m approaching this as an opportunity for growth and to continue to take ownership at work (which I do 100% at work, if not always in my…[Read more]

    • Yay, yay, yay! Doing a happy dance for you. I’m telling you, there is something to be said of staying positive, doing our inner work and focusing on improving. Your outer world is a reflection of inner reality. I’m thinking some of the recent changes you’ve made personally are working themselves out. I’m so happy for you. I’m so proud of the…[Read more]

      • I commented to my boyfriend last evening that I know I was able to get through this stressful time so well and perform so well interviewing is because I’m not drinking. Talk about positive reinforcement!

        • What an amazing awareness for you Stephanie?! Had you been drinking you most likely would have seen different results. Your choices lead to a better outcome. Now that’s ownership baby! You are doing it!

    • Congratulations Stephanie!

  • Love this Yoga Nidra meditation by my friend Colette! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpKwWaqb4_g&t=17s.

  • Today’s prompt is to share your thoughts on the quality and skill of “ownership.” How might embodying ownership support your process.

    • Ownership is the difference between living my life at the effect of what happens to me (victim) vs living my life at cause (creator). If I lack ownership for anything in my experience, it means I’m living in victim consciousness in the belief that life is happening to me rather than for me.

      • Great explanation! And now…continuing to live it! That is our work. The constant in and out of victim versus creator. The intention is to live more from the creator than the victim.

    • I think for me ownership is a balance of accountability and responsibilty for my actions but without going so far as to judge and beat myself up which I tend to do. Yesterday I was feeling overwhelmed around building a spiritual practice because even though I’ve done some things related to spiritual connection it’s never been super intentional.…[Read more]

      • Love this! You listened to yourself and realized that it can look how you want it to look. Find what feels good to you and do more of that so you can start experiencing your being versus your doing:) Great process Jane!

    • I like what both Jane and Wed shared. When I’m taking ownership, I am coming at things with a positive perspective and also being present. When I’m not being accountable, I tend to play victim, and I’m only now starting to see which of my thoughts and behaviors are really me playing the role of victim. A lack ownership on my part shows up as pure…[Read more]

      • Beautiful. I love the creator versus victim check-in because it supports us in being aware of our own process. When we are aware, we can choose something different. When we are unconscious, we can’t change it. I love that creator, accountability, ownership all support you in being more humble. That’s a great find!

  • Yesterday was a little rough for me. I was stuck in resentment and victim consciousness. Avoided connecting with people. Wanted to isolate and stay away from media, social or otherwise. And all the while I was aware of my victim mindset and unable or unwilling to make a different choice from the one I was making to be a victim.

    • What positive intention were you getting from being in victim consciousness, Wes? Thanks for sharing your process with us.

      • I was trying to be heard by my wife. She still didn’t hear what I was saying which kept me stuck in my role as a victim. Eventually we both let the issue go by repressing it so we can both live in relative peace until the next time it comes up. I guess the intention is to evoke change in my wife and our relationship. There’s no empowering way…[Read more]

        • Wes, wondering if you would play along. Prompt today is to take ownership. In this situation, what patterns can you own? I really hear that you want things to be different or better between the two of you. I hear some patterns of victim consciousness, not being heard and repression. Any others? Thanks for sharing this. You know I appreciate your…[Read more]

          • I can own that I have a disenpowering pattern of walking on eggshells around my wife. I also own my unwillingness to not react to her triggers. I acknowledge my pattern of reacting to her triggerd from a place of fear, resentment and defensiveness/self preservation. I own that I don’t show up for her the way she wants me to because she’s…[Read more]

  • When will you take some time to write down some Living Vision statements around the spiritual level?

  • Stephanie posted an update 8 years, 1 month ago

I’m so happy to say that I stuck to my commitment and finally meditated last evening. My goal was 5 minutes and I ended up meditating for 20. It was so refreshing.

    • Nice follow-through. When we follow-through with commitments we set for ourself, we build self-trust, self-confidence and self-love. This you having a better connection with yourself. So glad you said ‘yes’ to yourself yesterday.

    • Way to go! I’ve found meditating to be very helpful to my process of growth.

  • Great webinar! Thanks so much for your participation. It’s so enjoyable to hear your feedback, thoughts and comments through the slides. Thank you for that.
    Recap from our webinar:
    1. Start writing some Living Vision statements of your Desired State around your spirituality or connection to yourself.
    2. What action will you take on the spiritual…[Read more]

  • Just checking in with what’s present for me. I’m choosing gratitude, hope and renewal over fear and resentment right now. Different life events seem to be colliding and creating chaos. Or this is how my brain has been perceiving it. But in this moment, as I write, all is well. Problems remain unresolved and that’s ok. I’m not searching for…[Read more]
