I have finally completed Week 2. Three things I am going to work on this month with respect to clearing external clutter: 1. I will purchase binders and insert all of my various course work (I am working on a few different courses right now and it seems paper is in piles all around me); 2. I will organize my home office; 3. I will complete a…[Read more]

Did you ever imagine we would be doing such deep inner work?
-
This is exactly why I never think – poor me! I am thankful for all of my experiences to date. As a result – I get to do this deep inner work. I cannot imagine my life without it. It is truly a blessing to be living a life where I am aware of the inner work that needs to be done and have enough courage to go in and do it. Life in recovery is…[Read more]

Such a great perspective and attitude. I, too, adopt a perspective of gratitude that I get to do this work and grow spiritually. It helps so much to look for the learning than strengthen my ego and victimhood.

So glad we are!

I did! That’s why I joined.

Prompt for this weekend: Think about…As I’m clearing things, I am making space for…
-
For me it is making space for me to think and be creative! When surrounded by clutter I have a hard time to seeing the trees for the forest. I feel defeated before I begin anything. I find that my recovery journey is always evolving, new things, concepts, ideas, books, etc. come into my life. Clearing the old, inside and out, allows me to…[Read more]

You are making space for creativity…wonderful!

I loved this…I’m happy to report I have cleaned out and organized the tupperware cabinet. I made space for health and self-care. And I practiced worthiness by buying myself a new set of containers & lids. I know it sounds silly but I really did have to tell myself I deserve nice things.
-
Doesn’t sound silly at all. Your new normal is…”I deserve nice things because I deserve the best in life.” Look at all these amazing steps you took to be intentional, make space for you and show that you are worthy to yourself. Wow!
-
-
As I’m clearing things, I am making space for… purpose, worthiness, confidence, abundance and joy.

Here are my list of 3 external & internal clutter things to complete:
External clutter…1.Under my bed, 2. Tupperware cabinet, 3. Trunk of my car. Internal clutter…1. Heal this overall sense of unworthiness, 2. Let go of the guilt & shame I’ve been carrying around. Some I need to forgive myself and move on and some really isn’t mine to…[Read more]-
Jane, so appreciate you sharing so much clarity on the inner stuff that needs to be clear. Knowing is half the battle, as they say! Shame, unworthiness and filling the inner void were all things I experienced too. I’m happy to report that they can be resolved. You identifying them, acknowledging and calling it out will begin the process of having…[Read more]

Thanks, putting it out there and reading your reply are like breathing a big sigh of relief. Like ok I’m not stuck here. I get to move forward now.

You are only stuck there if you choose victim consciousness over creator consciousness. This is may be a new concept so living it and learning it takes practice, which you are doing. Stuck can’t live in creator consciousness. That’s why you will hear me always say look for the learning. When I say that, I’m asking you to look for the learning of…[Read more]

Thanks for pointing that out Bev. I think I always associate victim consciousness as blaming someone else which I don’t feel like I do, but I get that by not owning being a creator I’m choosing victim consciousness regardless of blaming or not blaming. That’s a huge point I didn’t get until now. It’s just like what you coached me on in last…[Read more]

When you reference filing the inner void – SHOPPING for clothes comes to mind for me. Once a major issue for me, I have tamed it quite a bit over the past few months. I have enough! I am enough! Thanks for sharing Jane. Your comments stirred me up a bit too 🙂

Today’s prompt: Take action on clearing something today either in your living environment or an old belief that isn’t serving you anymore.
-
This weekend is dedicated to helping my parents clear clutter as they prepare to sell and move. There’s a lot of opportunity to clear some internal clutter and drop beliefs around my parents and our relationship. This weekend will about honoring myself and them as well as my sister and her family who will be there…. Anyway, it’ll be about…[Read more]

Isn’t this amazing. You are helping your parents clear external clutter and are aware that you can do some inner clearing as you do so. Talk about being conscious and aware and using every experience for the highest good. Freakin’ awesome. I switched out my seasonal clothes and cleaned out while I was at it. It’s amazing to realize how much emotion I had tied to some articles of clothing. And it feels very liberating to send these things to Goodwill!!!
-
Could you give us an example of having emotion tied to clothing?
-
I think emotions get tied to clothing because of the memories associated with that outfit or article of clothing. I had this dress that had a very clear, unpleasant memory attached to it. I finally got rid of it so I don’t have to worry about reliving that moment each time I see the dress. I can move past that memory and free up space. It feels so…[Read more]

I know exactly what you mean Stephanie. I saw a picture of myself the other day from a few years ago and the outfit I was wearing brought up a flood of emotion. It was a good opportunity to let go and leave it in the past. Definitely liberating.

I’m connected to hope and gratitude today. My wife and I had a simple and productive conversation yesterday that has me hopeful for a deeper, more connected relationship and grateful for it as it is now. I’m celebrating 11 years today! So since we are in celebration mode, let us know what has been the greatest benefit from your recovery work since you began your journey.
-
Again, Congrats! So proud to know you. The greatest benefit from my journey has been resilience. I fall less but I still fall and when I do, I’m back on track quicker than ever, looking for the learning in my falling or “failing”. I love having the understanding that arguing with reality, with what is, is what causes my suffering. This always…[Read more]

Congrats on 11 years, so amazing! I think the greatest benefit from my recovery so far has been showing up differently in my relationships. Well really showing up at all. I’m much more present and I feel like a better friend, daughter, etc. I’m more honest than before and certainly more dependable. It makes me feel like a much better version of myself.
-
So wonderful. When we show up differently for ourselves that spills over to how we show up for our other relationships. What a great perk!
-
-
Congrats again Bev!!! What an accomplishment!! With respect to my recovery, I am thankful for that early knowledge of addressing my recovery in a holistic way – mind, body, spirit. Those early experiences allow me a safe place to return to when I feel a certain part on my wellness wheel slipping away. For example – I remember cycling/spin…[Read more]

Today’s prompt: Take a moment to slow down, breathe and recenter yourself. Could be at work, could be in the car, could be in your living environment.

I am learning to do this on a daily basis. I have scheduled a meditation time first thing when I get to my office – half hour of meditation, centering and getting myself spiritually set for the day. I would love to do my meditation in the mornings. I now it’s an excuse but I just cant find the time to wake up early to meditate before work. I do work at a very early hour, so I am not beating myself up over it. But I do enjoy it on my days off. I find meditation and just taking a few deep breathes to be very helpful in my entire process.

There’s a mantra that has been coming up every hypnotherapy session of the challenge that I’m participating in and I’ve found it very calming. Today’s prompt is to reflect on the root of the issue(s). What might be the driving force of your past behaviors?
-
I’ve been reflecting a lot on this the past couple of days while I work on my internal clutter list. On the worksheet I wrote down my external clutter list and thought of a few more things to add. I’ve written down some things on the internal list but I need to really get in touch with what’s coming up. Some of it is sort of surface situations…[Read more]
-
I really appreciate hearing you say that you are going to sit with this. It’s not about rushing or pushing the process. Making space for the messages to come is part of having the spiritual practice. I’m so glad that you are giving this some space and going beyond the surface.
-
-
I learned unworthiness early on. Because of this, I could only vaguely connect with a deeply elusive sense of purpose. Believing my worthiness had to be earned, and not believing myself worthy of having it, I stayed hidden away, safe and small, removed from, but always aware of, my potential and purpose.
-
So time to complete this one!
-
-
I think I’ve historically reacted from a place of fear. Whether it be fear of abandonment, fear of looking inadequate or stupid, or fear of whatever else. I never thought that I did, but now I’m starting the see that I’ve always come from a place of victim instead of creator.
-
Now you know that this part of you that feels fearful and wants to protect you just needs to be healed and loved. And that process depends on you being the creator! This one awareness and application can be life changing.

I watched this month’s webinar replay. I really love this concept that I CAN finish unfinished business. I’ve always been in tune with the fact that when my outside world is cluttered so is my mind, but I’m excited to learn the skill of completion to clear the internal and external simultaneously.

This is a great list, and it includes my tupperware cabinet on day 11 🙂

Something about that tupperware, lol! Apparently, it’s a common thing that needs to be cleared. My husband used to take them to work and throw them away so my tupperware cabinet would be empty and I’d be like, “where did all the tupperware go?” Tupperware organization is clearly not a problem at my house, lol.

Haha that’s one way to deal with it 🙂

Oh that darned Tupperware, always a disorganized mess at my house.

I tackled the top of my dresser. It was a small job and I wanted to pick something that I see everyday. I decluttered my office space. It’s not a space we use a lot and it tends to slowly get used as a storage area for other clutter from other rooms. Although we don’t use it, we pass by it on the main floor and it has glass doors and windows that make it impossible not to notice inside. Cleaning it out has led to more decluttering and tidying in…[Read more]

Great list. I’m curious about the inner clutter. You provided things you will do to clear the inner clutter. What is the inner clutter that needs to be cleared? So what do those activities help you do?
Forgot that part! The inner clutter I am clearing is chaos, confusion and apprehension. I am also hoping to open my creativity channels to move forward with some projects that are burning in my soul.
Yes, so you are intending to create and express some very special projects that are burning in your soul! And chaos, confusion and apprehension get in the way. I’m so looking forward to us clearing these misunderstandings so that you can shine your light brightly.
