This experience has been great. The staff are absolutely amazing!! Just being able to escape reality and relax was a so much better option than what I wanted to do which was escape life. I’m so glad I came. They have reminded me to use healthy coping skills I threw out the window a while ago. I have even been meditating again. If it wasn’t for my…[Read more]

I finally did something for me to help this major depression and anxiety I’m going through. I decided to go to a peer run respite for 5 days. It is really going to be beneficial I believe. I just honestly needed a break or I know I would have ended up in the hospital or something.

I think sometimes what stops me from seeing myself as a spiritual being is the fact that I get so frustrated with God sometimes as to why I am going through what I’m going through like how could he want this for me? What is he doing in my life? I am pretty active in my faith but sometimes when I don’t have answers I want to turn away and stop…[Read more]

I think I’m going to start checking in Sunday, Tuesday, Friday. Try that and see how it works.

I know I need to check in more, but I’m going to get in the habit!! I need to get more organized in my life in general. I want to organize my office area and my business stuff. I have nothing on my schedule for my independent business and that is really stressing me out and making me feel like a failure. 😞 But I guess the first step is getting…[Read more]

Miranda, I recommend picking a few days a week that you check-in so that you can form the habit. You are right on point with recognizing that it is a habit! What days would be good to check in? Also, I put things in my google calendar so a reminder pops up for me. I, literally, have my self-care practice on my calendar so that I get a reminder to do it!

Acknowledging all the life circumstances you are going through as well. This is when support and accountability are a must!

It is a habit. 🙂 … I don’t check in every day but make it a point to check in on the days I work from home, of which there are three. It’s enough for me where I feel connected without the stress of feeling like I “have to” do it every day. For me, checking in 2 to 3 ti es a week, I look forward to it.

I feel like I have so much unfinished business this month. I feel so behind on everything. Housework, work for my company (I work from home for a jewelry company), just stuff to keep myself sane and well, and really I just need to take a few days to get myself together. Last weekend I thought I was going to accomplish so much because I actually…[Read more]

You sound like me Miranda. When I get so overwhelmed I stop and try and let everything flow out of my head. Then I open my eyes and somehow see what I should do next.
-
Totally understand feeling like there’s lots of unfinished business. Start with something and work on completing it. For me the first thing I started with was deciding to fully recovery. I made that my mission for years and made choices in alignment with that!

Hey I’m Miranda, I’m looking to work on my recovery in a different way than I am right now because this way isn’t always the best. I am trying to be more positive and optimistic and hoping this process will help 🙂
That is wonderful! I find retreats to be so helpful. I attended a one day retreat last Saturday and even though one day it was very rejuvenating! Enjoy 5 days! I am jealous! Keep us posted!
Miranda, I hope the 5 day peer run respite helps. I don’t know exactly what the depression and anxiety feels like to to you, but I suffer from bouts of it myself. It can be most debilitating. I am glad you are paying attention to what you need and taking care of yourself. I would like to hear about the respite when you return. Take care and…[Read more]
I’m so glad you listened to what you needed, looked for the support and are going to the respite Miranda. Way to go dear! Though we all experience depression and anxiety differently, I have been there too. That’s why I have a daily practice so that I can stay proactive about my anxiety. I notice when I’m not eating as well, exercising or doing…[Read more]
