I listened to the second call from january and wrote out an up level for each of my areas of focus for this year. I combined a couple of topics that were similar or totally intertwined. When i look at this whole list I feel totally overwhelmed even though each thing by itself is totally doable and not that big of a deal. It feels like if I could do all of these things I would be doing them already, but…I also know I haven’t put any effort or intention or commitment to doing any of them up to this point either. So if I just pick one thing to focus on and commit to first, it feels more realistic. The one that jumps out at me the most and that i feel drawn to is taking a walk everyday. I feel like I need to do something that involves self-care and keeping a promise to myself. And no matter where i am i can definitely take 10-30 minutes and go walk and clear my head.

    *Healthy coping/healing for depression
–make a list of things I can do that aren’t harmful when I’m feeling down and choose one instead of unhealthy coping more often than not
*Career -finding a new direction, letting go of fear of change
–Look into new classes/certifications and take action on one new thing
*Self-care around physical health and wellness
    –Go for a walk everyday
    *Moving to my own place
–put money in savings every week for moving out
*Healing/ending/letting go of an old relationship
–Consider my needs and wellbeing before responding, in order to break old patterns
*Experiencing more joy over tolerating life by embracing & seeking out new experiences/change/adventure
–Say yes to something that scares (excites) me at least once a month
    *Self-acceptance/self-love/letting go of self-judgement
–set aside time in the morning to read and journal
*Being open & welcoming new connections and relationships with others
–Check out a sober meetup group or something similar

    • I really like this idea of doing something each day to take care of yourself. I like keeping it general so you don’t beat yourself up if you can’t go for a walk for some reason. Walking can be your main way of taking good care of you. Thank you for noticing overwhelm. That’s the mechanism that needs to be loved, appreciated, healed and upgraded. Remember the paradigm, How you relate to the issue is the issue. So if you are relating to up-leveling with overwhelm, that’s actually the piece that need to be worked on so great info for you! It’s also important to know you don’t have to change it all at once but this does give you direction and focus. This is a fantastic list of intentions. I can totally see and feel the up-level here. Bravo for letting yourself even write this list and think this through. We will take it one piece, one step at time. You are supported.

      • Thank you for the support. When I was writing this and reading it after I wanted to scrap the whole thing because I felt so uncomfortable and agitated and scattered. You’re right, it’s how I’m relating to it, with overwhelm and distrust in myself because I don’t believe I will do any of it.

        • Yes, lean into the discomfort and know that you can change how you relate to yourself. That’s the actually healing that we are working on. The running, scrapping and escaping is just your systems way of wanting to relieve the discomfort. However you don’t have to do it that way anymore. You can change how you relate to the issue and yourself. That’s where the freedom lies.

    • I love your list, Jane. You know, it takes a lot of courage to even attempt to write a list like that, so to me you are showing tremendous courage and I applaud you. I also feel overwhelmed with my list. Totally get it.
