    Way to go!

I am able to do yoga and meditate often with my ex girlfriend. We have known each other for 25 years. I have also been helping her in her recovery. She had relapsed about 2 months ago but has over forty days sober. Helping her in recovery has strengthened my recovery and recovery efforts. I feel very lucky to be able to share and push each other.

It’s a difficult balance. I’ve found during my recovery though I have become much more productive outside of work. I used to just work 8 hours and feel as if that was enough for the day. Now I rarely have a day where I am not going to a meditation, taking a yoga class, playing golf or taking to my dog to the beach. I think one thing that has…[Read more]

Work, and usually catching up on my sleep. I also have been in a sober bowling league for the past several months. I find it quite enjoyable, even though bowling used to be something I would always do before while drinking. It’s become part of my finding what I like and dislike now that I am sober. I also usually go to a Buddhist temple for a…[Read more]

That’s so great! We can never change our past, but we can learn from it and help others to not make the same ones we have made. I am happy you have found your calling!

Hanging with my dog, meditating at my Temple. Helping others, especially those who are dealing with their own recovery and volunteering.

I have done masonry and construction in the past. I think I just enjoy using my hands to do things. I don’t want to be in that field of work anymore because it is so hard on the body. But I do miss the feeling of accomplishment of seeing something you’ve built completed. I did get my creative fix this week with Halloween. I have grown quite…[Read more]

I’ve learned that although I cannot control my emotions all of the time, I am able to control my reactions and actions. I had a frustrating week and found myself very angry with someone whom I am close too. Instead of saying hurtful things that would have only benefited my ego, I took deep breaths and just dealt with my emotions. It was a hard…[Read more]

I am struggling to find my creative outlet. I really do enjoy building things but I don’t have a work space where I am living right now. Maybe I can try writing again, that definitely helped me when I was first starting my inner work.

    • What about writing supported you in the past Chas? Also, curious about what you like to build?

Glad you are enjoying San Diego. I remember when my Dad became a US citizen. It was a pretty cool experience to be able to witness.

I went to a Vinyasa yoga class this week and am very happy to have added yoga to my activities that I do as part of my self care. I feel it really helps to connect my body and mind. The breathing focus ties into meditation, which I feel has been a key factor into understanding myself better. I also did one yoga video on my own., That was short of…[Read more]

Hello, it’s been quite awhile since I have posted last. I have been really busy and dealing with the ailing health of my dad. I have been unable to do the work and participate in the webinars. This has caused me to not feel like posting because I wasn’t participating in the activities. I feel like I have fallen back into an old behavior of mine,…[Read more]

    • Appreciate your honesty. Life is always happening and it’s our duty to find a way to be present to ourselves while present to life. It’s a great point you bring up here and you are certainly not alone in learning about balance.

    • Glad you’re back Chas. Great job keeping up the work on yourself through everything going on around you.

As far as money goes I spend more than I make. I used to just blows things off all the time when I was drinking never caring about the consequences. Now I have started to get my finances back on track and am slowly working to being on track. I am finally handling all of my bills and old debts which is painful but feels good to finally feel…[Read more]

    • Chas, great to hear you open to learning this month and turning things around for yourself in this area so that you can continue to make choices that are going to get you further along in your journey.

    • Gosh Chas, I could’ve written that myself. Looking forward to upleveling with ya!

Several things bring me joy. Spending time with friends and family. Hanging with my dog, and seeing her happiness. I also love to travel, although I haven’t been to a new country in quite awhile. Guess I will have to pay attention this month so I can learn to save some money. I also find joy spending time outdoors; hiking, golfing, going to the…[Read more]

I just got back from vacation which was wonderful. I find each time that I hang out with old friends or family who are drinking I am more comfortable with my decision to quit and where I am in life now. It’s not that I need any reinforcement other than how great I am feeling and doing, but it’s just another motivator for me to continue what I have…[Read more]

    • I’ve always wanted to see the Dalai Lama speak! Put me in your back pocket please, lol:) It’s interesting how some people get around alcohol and want to join in and you get around it and can see all the benefits to not drinking. How did you get that perspective Chas?

Glad to hear that this helped you out! It is nice to refocus and have some help every now and then!

Thanks for sharing Wes! Hang in there I’m sure it’s difficult watching your daughter struggle with issues you have also dealt with. Continue to show yourself compassion as you do the same for your daughter. We’re here for you.
