This month we will be discussing the Emotional level, dialoguing with an emotion and looking for the positive intention behind our behaviors. Any initial thoughts or feelings come up from reading this?

Funny enough, I’ve just been going along intuitively so I’m glad to hear that the order has worked well for you. Great perspective shift. I find perspective to be my biggest strength. I know when I look at it in a way that works for me that I always have a better experience of life. I just feel better when I have a good perspective about…[Read more]

Sounds like a great pattern to look into. I’m curious about your insight on the cycle you go through.

Last couple days of tracking, being intentional around the physical level. What have you learned about yourself on this level this month?
-
So often I do really well in the physical level. I change my total lifestyle and meet my weightless, healthy eating and physical workout goals. Then life gets in the way and undo everything that I worked so hard to achieve. This is such a common cycle for me. I need to look at this and determine why and then reset my goals and work to achieve them.

I’ve learned that I enjoy & appreciate noticing my body getting stronger from different workouts and classes I’ve tried. I also notice a shift from thinking of working out as a punishment to now it becoming a part of self-care and something that makes me feel better when I do it. I also learned that it’s not about the food 🙂 And that after…[Read more]

Thank you for all the bday love. I’m basking in appreciation today. Actualizing has been really important to me and my soul. I’m happy to say I’m where I want to be in life. I’m also happy to say that I still have some goals I’m working towards. I’ve got some business goals I would like to have in place by the time I’m 40. And Richard and I have…[Read more]

It really was a great breakfast. My sister is 13 years older than me and it’s so amazing how much growth I’ve had in the last 11 years. We have such a different relationship now that I am older and living substance-free.

I was able to take my sister out for breakfast and tea today for her birthday. It felt really good to be present to my sis. I gave her a deck of cards and we pulled cards during breakfast. It was fun and created a great conversation that was deep and connected. I keep pulling a meditation card that says to listen for guidance in the silence. I will follow.
-
That’s one of the best feelings I’ve received from sobriety, being able to be present for people I care about. Sounds like it was a lovely breakfast.

I love being able to be in the present moment when I am with family and friends. Sounds like a beautiful time with your sister!

I’m so glad that you can report this Stephanie. I like that you didn’t have to rigorously track but you were still able to be conscious of your food. Congrats on losing the 2.5 lbs….awesome!

Look at your growth, incredible. You completely owned this process. It’s not about there being no fears or judgments, it’s about you not letting yourself be run by them. Way to go! And truth be told, the more neutral you stay to those thoughts and feelings, the less they will start to present themselves. So awesome to hear your experience.

I tried an Orangetheory fitness class tonight. It was pretty challenging and I loved it! I would’ve never tried it 6 months ago. I would’ve been too self-conscious and scared of other people judging me etc etc.. But honestly when all the fears and judgements were coming up today and right up until the class started I was able to keep telling…[Read more]

I am finally getting back to physical exercise. I did a 40 minute walk/jog at Shelter Island last evening. It felt so good. I am really hoping to train for the Hero’s in Recovery 6K that is here in San Diego on November 18th. I am hoping to find a good fitness class soon. I do very well in groups once I get started.

All great steps!

I have been walking quite a bit more. Last week I walked 5 times and went to yoga three times. I am noticing a huge difference in my energy. I walked with hubby once. I do, however, love to put the ear buds in and get lost in my music. I am doing a 5K walk for work on September 9th, so looking forward to that. That and eating really well.…[Read more]

My mom always parks far away from the store so she can get some extra exercise in which is funny because she exercises all the time:) However, it’s the little changes like taking stairs and walking more that add up. I’ve been doing 20 minutes of yoga and 10 minute HIIT videos lately and I can see some changes taking place. The tracking has helped…[Read more]

It’s an interesting thing to think about. What are we tolerating in our lives that needs to be changed? It’s great for all of us to think about.

I had this great thought the other day that I show my appreciation for my body by exercising it. Made perfect sense to me. Not everyone has a mobile body or limbs to do the things that I can. And it’s not a guilt or judgment thing; it’s an appreciation thing that I do.
-
Great reframe! I like it.
-
Great thought! I always take the stairs at work instead of the elevator for the same reason.

What a great way to look at it. I believe we are souls living in an earlthy body and that we really should take care of it. I am not always the best at it, but this perspective can really change that.

I still have a lot to dialogue about with shame. In particular, undeserved shame. And I recently quit a behavior I was using unknowingly to avoid feeling my feelings. So this months topic is perfect timing for me.
The first thought that popped up was sadness. That I’ve been experiencing that emotion so much more since I stopped drinking. But also fear. Basically learning how to feel all the emotions again. So looking forward to another month of growth.
