This week I got to exercise with my husband and we meditated together which I always enjoy! Who do you get to do your recovery practice with? Is there anyone you wish you could do more with?
-
No one really. Right now it’s just kind of a solo thing.
-

-
I am solo for everything right now Bev and Jane. I am grateful for all of you here and in the FB group! I can share with you!
-
I am able to do yoga and meditate often with my ex girlfriend. We have known each other for 25 years. I have also been helping her in her recovery. She had relapsed about 2 months ago but has over forty days sober. Helping her in recovery has strengthened my recovery and recovery efforts. I feel very lucky to be able to share and push each other.

You got this Courtney! Your light is so infectious. I enjoyed seeing a family photo on FB that came through my feed;) Enjoy! Feel free to reach out if you need any support with any thoughts, feelings or behaviors.

Thank you Beverly! I am back, I survived and I took away a lesson or two!!!

What did you learn? If you don’t mind sharing…
-
Absolutely, I think my key takeaway from my the last few days is that I get to choose who I spend my time and energy with. I do not need to expend time and energy on people I do not find myself attracted to. I let go of the personal expectation.

Great lessons!

Happy Monday…How do you make sure you have work/life/recovery balance?
-
Still figuring this out, trying to learn to balance my needs over putting others first.
-
It’s a difficult balance. I’ve found during my recovery though I have become much more productive outside of work. I used to just work 8 hours and feel as if that was enough for the day. Now I rarely have a day where I am not going to a meditation, taking a yoga class, playing golf or taking to my dog to the beach. I think one thing that has…[Read more]

I know I do not have a good balance. Most of my time is spent on my business and anything leftover is for recovery. I rarely do anything considered “fun”.

What do your weekends consist of?
-
Connecting with friends, being a little adventurous and seeing what’s going on in the city, trying new things, dinners out, reading, orangetheory fitness, time outside, my spiritual/recovery practice…
(A combo of any of the above) -
ugh… work, so eager for that to change
-
Work, and usually catching up on my sleep. I also have been in a sober bowling league for the past several months. I find it quite enjoyable, even though bowling used to be something I would always do before while drinking. It’s become part of my finding what I like and dislike now that I am sober. I also usually go to a Buddhist temple for a…[Read more]

How do you stay intentional with your growth process?
-
Great question, I plan time every day for reading and reflection. I meditate and journal.. i try to make it a prioroty

Wonderful Courtney. What do you reflect on?
-
Thank you for asking, right now I am really reflecting on gratitude- where I am today and the hope that I have for the near future.

Me too Courtney. Gratitude is coming in for me as well thanks to a challenge I’m doing.
-
I stay intentional through a connection with joy in my process itself. It’s a source of incredible joy and meaning for me and it makes it a pleasure to engage intentionally each day.

I am part of a “Life Group” at church. This discussion group is really stretching me spiritually. There are several others in the group who are in recovery. Between this and church I am growing spiritually. And this in turn is strengthening my recovery.

Yay! Excited to have you there Jennifer. I see these calls as our opportunity to do our inner work so we can better serve others!

Loved hearing your experience with this person Jennifer. As a child of an alcoholic who passed away from his drinking, I always say the greatest gift you can give your children is a sober, present and loving parent. I’m so happy you’ve found a calling that support your soul and the soul of other beings!
